Choices by Venting Options
What are my vent options?
- Gas or electric appliances ONLY
- Require NO vent/chimney, no draft or air infiltration
- Can easily be placed in many rooms of the home
- VF-Gas is clean burning but must be properly sized, installed & used
- Regular cleaning & maintenance required. Restrictions exist
- VF-Gas produces high efficiency heat, water vapor and CO2
- Electric is no burn/no emissions/little heat. Few restrictions
- Open front, gas or wood appliances
- Require a vertical vent/chimney through the roof.
- May have cold draft, air infiltration and heat loss thru the chimney
- Can be placed in any room of the home
- Vent system has limited elbows, vertical installation only.
- Requires some maintenance and service
- Natural vent is low efficiency and produces some heat
- Closed/sealed front, gas or pellet appliances
- Option of horizontal or vertical vent through the wall or roof.
- Little drafts or air infiltration, no indoor heat loss thru the vent
- Can be placed in any room of the home
- Vent system allows multiple elbows, can run horizontal/vertical.
- Requires some maintenance and service
- Direct vent is high in efficiency, heat and flexibility
- Closed or open front; Gas or wood appliances
- Option of horizontal or vertical vent through wall or roof.
- Closed systems: High heat/efficiency. Open systems: No heat/efficiency
- Can be placed in any room of the home
- Vent system allows multiple elbows, long horizontal/vertical runs.
- Requires some maintenance and service
- Power vent is highly flexible and can solve venting issues
